BS Yediyurappa, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, inaugurated a mobile application for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) today, facilitating the direct transfer of funds to beneficiaries enrolled in various government welfare schemes. The Chief Minister’s office revealed that this platform encompasses 120 schemes within the state.
Mr. Yediyurappa noted that over the past two years, an amount exceeding Rs 12,000 crore has been directly credited to the Aadhaar-linked bank accounts of beneficiaries. He expressed satisfaction with the system, highlighting its success in eliminating fund misappropriation, intermediaries, and loopholes. The platform has been instrumental in disbursing all COVID-19 relief packages announced by the state government during the initial and subsequent waves.
Additionally, the Chief Minister’s Office stated that schemes outlined in the state budget offering financial assistance would be integrated into the DBT platform. The application identifies beneficiaries through their Aadhaar numbers, considering the details on the card as the financial address, and transfers funds directly to the Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.
To achieve the government’s transparency goals, citizens are encouraged to use the application actively. The Chief Minister’s Office emphasized the importance of citizens staying informed about the benefits transfer process and making optimal use of the software application.
